  2. you must have something interesting to talk about.

Being a guest on Vermont Talks is easy.

Reach out to Becca to be on the show, she can be found through this website, on social media, or by emailing Becca@VermontTalks.com.

Interview Location

I have access to the BIG HEAVY WORLD studio on Pine Street, Saturday nights from 6 to 9pm.

I love recording on site if you have a business, rehearsal space, or other on site location.

I live in Colchester and have opened my home up to recording interviews in the past. I have had a podcast studio, and hope to have one again some day.

With the pandemic – I have opened up to recording online. I prefer to video chat and record using Discord for the best sound quality. A headset will be required for online interviews.

Details for Vermont Talks Guests

  1. Don’t Panic! This is going to be fun 🙂
  2. Check out some existing episodes on vermonttalks.com and how customized
some of the show notes pages are! Send me pics through email or drop them
into your google drive folder for the interview and I’ll include them on your page.
  3. I cannot record without your written consent – see the Guest Release link at the bottom of the site. We will do this the
day of the interview, don’t worry about trying to sign this digitally!
  4. I’ll send you info about your specific interview ahead of time, along with some
open ended questions I may or may not ask. I keep it conversational, so often
we will cover questions without me asking them directly.
  5. Be prepared to talk about yourself and your ‘cool thing’… ie – event, business,
band, art exhibit, book, project, or whatever brings you on the show.
  6. Get comfortable and make sure the mic is where you want it before we start –
try not to move around too much while we are recording. Just give me a heads
up if you need to re-adjust.
  7. I’ll introduce you as my guest with three impressive / interesting facts about you
(see your interview specific information if you’d like to pick these facts).
  8. Once we get past details and intros, the interview should feel like a normal
    conversation.
  9. Have fun and be yourself, this isn’t meant to be stiff or overly edited!
  10. I have the ‘explicit content’ warning for a reason – don’t worry about it if you
    swear.
  11. I make mistakes, don’t feel like you need to be perfect! I try to edit as little as
possible so the show feels like a natural conversation.
  12. I have headsets for 1 on 1 interviews and standalone microphones on hand.
  13. Microphone recording tips:
    a. Speak directly into the microphone
    b. Hold your mouth about 2-3 inches from the wind screen
    c. No coughing directly into the mic please
    d. Don’t worry about umms or ahhs
    e. Don’t worry if you want to start a sentence or statement over. Just pause
for a second and repeat yourself. I can re-ask questions as well, but don’t
    worry about it too much!
